New feature page: “Uguisudani Club, an Inn That Appears in a Rampo Novel”
Edogawa Rampo’s full-length detective novel Kenin Gengi features an inn called “the Tokiwa Ryokan (常盤) in Uguisudani.” Our predecessor, the Tokiwa Ryokan (written 常きわ), opened here in Negishi in 1952 — two years before that serialisation began. Both names are read Tokiwa.
We have brought together the passage Rampo wrote down, the seventy-odd years our inn has continued under changing names, and the ties between the town of Uguisudani and Rampo, in a feature page. We hope you will enjoy reading it.
